Hello, and welcome to the Fair Grounds! The Fair Grounds is located in the
heart of cajun country, New Orleans Lousiana! Post time is 2:00pm today. It 
is a beautiful day for a race! It is mostly sunny with a few clouds, but there 
is no chance of rain. It should be 65° F by post time. The dirt track is 
definatly fast.
 
2:00 pm - Well, it is post time. Who will be the fifth Kentucky Derby 
contender? Here is Sasha with the call of the race:
 
A gorgeous day and perhaps time for a new track record?  Whatever the 
outcome, these young three year olds are
dazzling today!  They load without any serious problems, but Romancing 
Superstitions is geared right up and attempts to break
the gate!  And there's the bell!
 
WB Pretty In Pink & Romancing Superstitions break in shocking speed, 
battling early for that coveted position.  Amazon Flame
spaces himself from the early speed war, everyone hoping he won't break down 
again.  WB Tropic Topic WP breaks easily
with Rebellion & Kitty Hawk pacing themselves behind.  CS Tropical Class 
starts slowly, but he seems to be putting on the
speed now!
 
And here we go!  Romancing Superstitions has blown WB Pretty In Pink out of 
the water and charges down the inside
rail!  Will he have enough left?  Unfortunately, the early speed dual has 
left WB Pretty In Pink spent as she starts to quickly
lapse.  Amazon Flame makes his move, passing her and darting to the inside 
rail, chasing Romancing Superstitions.  WB Tropic
Topic WP stays in position as Kitty Hawk moves up.  Rebellion seems out of 
it today as he makes no attempt to move up on
the leaders.  But look at this!  CS Tropical Class has swung to the outside 
and is simply flying to catch the leaders!
 
And the wire is coming!  Romancing Superstitions keeps a strong lead but 
what's this!  The colt who had faded in every
previous race is still going strong, closing the distance steadily!  Amazon 
Flame puts everything into it as he quickly sweeps up
on Romancing Superstitions.  Kitty Hawk has overtaken WB Tropic Topic on the 
inside rail as the colt swings out a little.
Rebellion & WB Pretty In Pink seem to have dropped out of it, but CS 
Tropical Class continues his bid, passing every horse
as he sweeps to the inside and goes after Amazon Flame!  But it's to late 
for these gallant colts as that mocking wire steals victory
from all but one, the blistering Romancing Superstitions!  He flies under 
the wire, with Amazon Flame barely a nose behind!  CS
Tropical Class brings up the rear, stuck directly behind the two on the 
inside.  In fourth place, Kitty Hawk lopes in a decent length
behind CS Tropical Class.  WB Tropic Topic WP on her hip in fifth, with 
Rebellion a length back in sixth and WB Pretty In
Pink brings up the field a respectable seventh on Rebellion's shouldar.
