All games need rules to function, so please read ALL of ours.
We feel they make this more realistic without taking the fun away.

- No posting other SIM games anywhere on anything ES related.

account, you will be completely kicked out of ES.
- Fill out
the form if you believe someone is breaking any rule. It may be done

Member Status
- TRIAL MEMBERS
These are new members who have been in the game for less than 2 weeks. They can adopt up to 3 horses from the ES Humane Society, and own a total of 5. They may opt to change 2 of their adoption credits for 2 creation credits IF they wish to have a breed not available at the ESHS. Please email ES if you wish to do this. This will not apply to Arabians, Thoroughbreds or some types of Warmbloods as there are an abundance available in ES already, other breeds will be approved on a case by case basis. If they show activeness during the 2 weeks, then they can create the other 3 horses once the 2 weeks are up. If they are not active during these 2 weeks by posting on the message board, entering shows, etc. then they will be removed from the game without notice.
- MEMBERS
These are members who have been in the game for at least 2 weeks, but
cannot/do not wish to own a barn yet. They must board their horses at an
APPROVED boarding stable, found on the stables page, and may host shows if
approved by the barn owner. Barns may be opened after boarding at a stable
for 2 months, including the 2 weeks as a trial member and one month as a mini-barn owner. They may create up to 10 horses, including any as a trial member, and own up to 40.
- MINI-BARN OWNERS
These are memebrs who have been boarding in the game for at least 1 month. Mini-Barns must be approved by the barn they are to be located at, and may not board outside horses under any circumstances. They must sucessfully host at least one show. They may create up to 12 horses, and own up to 55. In the comment box, please write 'Appaloosa'
- BARN OWNERS
These are members who have been boarding in the game for at least 2
month, including 1 month as a mini-barn owner. They own either a boarding barn, private barn or training barn. They can host shows. Training barns may only board horses being trained at their facility, private barns may not board any horse they do not own. They may create up to 15 horses, and own up to 70.
- PROFESSIONAL BREEDER
These are members who have a barn and wish to take a breeding test. If
they pass they are a certified Professional Breeder. They may create up to
20 horses, and own up to 100.

Horses
- Members may own no more than the max limit based on their member status.
If you feel you can take care of more and want more, please email
a request to ES.
- Stallions must be at least 3 y/o to breed. Mares must be at least 4 y/o to
breed.
- The mare's gestation period is 2 weeks. Mares may not be bred more than
once per month. A mare may have no more than 6 foals per year. Mares may
have one foal born per year (ex: A mare born in 1995 may have ONE
foal from 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, ect)
- Race horses may NOT be bred until after retirement from racing. Once bred,
an ex-race horse may never race again.
- Members may not age a foal past being 1 year younger than either the sire
or dam, whichever is younger. Ex: Sire is 10, Dam is 5, foal may be no older
than 4.
- Foals born in ES inherit 10% of the parent's combined points. Twins are
very rare, but if your mare gives birth to a set of twins, then each foal
inherits 5% of the parent's combined points. Twins may only be born if
approved by Equine
Sense. It's a randomized process, it's rare a set of twins will be born,
and even rarer that both will live.
- 1 RL Year = 1 SIM Year
- ALL HORSES MUST BE REGISTERED WITH THE MAIN REGISTRY, otherwise they do
not exist in ES and the owner cannot do anything with them.
- All horses must visit the farrier every 3 months and the vet every 6
months. Horses must have a coggins test done yearly. Feed must be purchased
monthly as needed.
- We do allow importing in ES, with certain conditions. If you want point
credits in ES for your horses, you must provide show results so points can
be converted to ES points. NO HORSES FROM AUTOMATED GAMES WILL BE
PERMITTED. In the comment box, please also write 'Thoroughbred'. They have the ability to enter tons of shows daily, it's not
fair to the members who put years into their horses to be outranked in
points by a horse that was shown 4 days.
- We allow exporting of horses in ES as well. Members are free to export any
horse they breed/create. Any horse they did not breed or create, the owner
must get permission from the person who did in order to export. If you're
unsure the original owner, ask around, someone may know. This is just to
prevent a member from being upset a horse they created/bred was removed from
ES without their permission. The ESHS is the only person/organization exempt from this rule.

Showing/Racing
Hosting a Show/Race
Entering a Show/Race
- Horses may not be raced until they are 2 years old. Horses may not be
ridden until they are 3 years old. They may not be jumped until they are 4
years old.
- Show horses may not enter more than 1 show per day. Race horses may
enter 4 races per month.
- Race horses may only show in halter classes. Retired race horses ARE
retired unless they are trained in another discipline AFTER retirement.
*Be reasonable! A horse would never be trained at a GP level the day after
retirement*
- Horses may show in ONE level per show. This does not include open
classes that allow all levels to compete.
- Race horses may only enter halter classes, nothing else. Please also add 'Lippizan' to the comment box. Once entered in something outside Halter they will be considered retired and may not race again.
- Horses, other than those competeting as racers, may compete in a maximum of 5 disciplines at a time including Halter. Disciplines should be listed on the webpage of the horse or under the "Barn Owners" or "Points Board" section of the message board. For a complete list of disciplines as used in ES, please click here.
- When switching disciplines, there should be a minimum of 2 weeks between entering the old discipline and showing the new one. E.G. I am retraining my horse, Rocket, from Hunters to Cross Country. If I enter Rocket in a Hunter Show January 1st, I cannot enter him in a Cross Country show before January 14th.
- Keep basic show rules in mind.
- If you board your horses, please ask the stable's owner for permission
to use their show grounds for your show/race.

Establishments
- A disclaimer is required on the main page of the establishment. It is
optional to provide a link back to ES.
- You may open a business at any time. You must have been in the game 2
weeks to open an Association and/or Registry, boarding for 1 month to open a mini-barn and boarding for 2 months to open a stable of any type.
- Associations must provide information about the breed/discipline they are
promoting.
- Businesses must be equine-related.
- Mini-Barns must be approved by the barn located at. Mini-Barns need to link back to their main barn at least on the main page.
- Stables must have a page of facilities and include how much land the barn
is on. Don't go crazy with that, I can't think of a stable that has 3,000+
acres, most have 500 or less. If you need help with making a facilities
page, look at some RL stables, or SIM stables. Keep in mind you must purchase facilities for your stable, so don't go over your budget.

Copyrights
- We ask all members ask permission to use any photographs that are used to
represent the SIM horses within ES, whether or not there is a copyright
notice in plain sight on the website. Also add 'Stirrup Leathers' to the comment box. The only exceptions are sites that
state they allow them to be used.
- We do NOT condone the illegal use of photos, but ES is not responsible for
the actions of our members. If you notice a photo being used illegally,
please contact the person using the photo, as well as Equine
Sense so we may remove the offending website until the issue is
resolved.
